Coffee is an ancient drink long associated with social activity. One could say that drinking together in a social setting is almost an exclusive human activity, and we often get together solely for the purpose of enjoying a good cup of joe. Whether you head out to your nearest coffee house or use your electric kettle cordless appliance at home to brew a good, rich cup of coffee, one thing is certain: coffee time is a sacred routine. Yes, some people cannot start their day without a good cup from their electric kettle. You know who you are.
You would be hard pressed to find someone who has not visited a coffee house at some point in their lives. Non-coffee drinkers may have on occasion wandered into a coffeehouse for one reason or another such as to meet friends, or even to purchase a caffeine free fruit beverage.
Why do so many people enjoy coffee that they are willing to spend upwards of $20 a day for several coffee drinks? The main ingredient in coffee is caffeine, and we all know that this ingredient gives us a wake up jolt that we so desperately need in the mornings and in the afternoons. But we turn to coffee not only for its ability to get us going, but also for its ability to hold a social gathering. What I mean by that is that coffee is a universal beverage that signals to others that it is time to sit down, relax, talk about things and in general engage in social interaction devoid of normal daily pressures such as work, deadlines and the like. Nothing calms the senses at home as the sound of the chimes of the electric kettle cordless appliance signaling that the water is ready and coffee is a mere seconds away from being consumed.
Coffee houses may be found in just about any place on earth. It truly is the one drink that transcends time and culture. People from all continents know what coffee is and appreciate what coffee can do for them. But no matter how different cultures approach their coffee, one thing is absolutely for sure; that is, the universal appeal of coffee as the drink of choice for almost any social gathering. Yes, in some parts of the world, they would frown upon you if you did not drink your coffee pure and black. And in other parts of the world, coffee is not complete without its usual accompaniments such as cream and sugar and whatever other dressing one chooses to add to it.
Coffee has had its influence on commerce for much of Europe’s history, and at one point was so valued that private engagements were held just to enjoy the latest coffee that the world has to offer. Of course, today, coffee is a ubiquitous commodity, but still there are unique blends and beans that command premium prices. Despite that, even exotic coffee is no longer the exclusive domain of the affluent. It has become the casual drink of choice for social settings, and oftentimes a post meal accompaniment, where dessert once ruled. It appears that a good cup of coffee at the coffee house, or prepared on your electric kettle cordless appliance at home, will always be the drink that will accompany us on our social events, and that it will remain this way for quite some time to come.
